Our mission

Our mission is to help address the shortage of rental housing in the Netherlands and to support the ongoing sustainability of the rental housing market. Our goal is to make living in a comfortable home accessible, so that people can live happily and build toward their future. And we don’t stop there.

Using the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) as our guide, we have explored how Build can contribute to a more sustainable society by actively avoiding negative impacts on the environment and society. The following SDGs are embedded in Build’s approach to sustainability and ESG (Environment, Social and Governance).

Our vision on sustainability, including our objectives and measures, is outlined in our ESG and Sustainability Policy. This policy is built on our Build Sustainability Pillars, which collectively cover the key areas we consider essential to sustainable and responsible business practices.

As a Build, with our product and our services, we want to make a positive contribution to people, the environment and society. We make a distinction between:

A social contribution:

  • Contributing to broad prosperity
  • Contribute to resolving the housing shortage

A sustainability contribution:

  • Contributing to the sustainability of existing real estate
  • Contribute to responsible new construction

By providing financing at an attractive interest, we make affordable living possible for more people. We also offer the possibility to take out financing for (sustainable) renovation and transformation.

Build wants to motivate real estate entrepreneurs and help to make existing construction more sustainable, based on a sustainability scan.

Build works with a range of partners, including investors, property developers, shareholders, and advisors. We continually strive to balance the various interests involved. Financial performance is important—but so too are social impact and environmental considerations. We also take into account the interests of indirectly involved parties, such as tenants, and integrate them into our policies.

Robust governance and a sound internal organization are essential aspects of sustainable and responsible business practices. Our guiding principles are transparency, accountability, and fairness.

We aim for a diverse and well-balanced team. Providing a safe and enjoyable working environment is a top priority. The engagement and expertise of all Build employees are equally vital. Build invests in shaping a shared sustainability objective, ensuring that every team member understands how they can contribute. ESG and sustainability must be embraced across the entire organization. Through regular surveys and sustainability sessions, we ensure that everyone is aligned.

Engagement and communication with external stakeholders are just as important. We report regularly to our shareholders and conduct internal reviews of Build's progress. Our goal is to standardize reporting as much as possible, while also exploring the potential to align with market benchmarks and certifications.

At Build, we understand that successful real estate investment starts with the right financing. We offer real estate financing from €500,000 to €15 million for leased residential properties in the affordable rental segment, including houses, apartments, and commercial real estate.
