Builders in Beeld - Bart Silven

At Build Finance, a team of enthusiastic financial and real estate professionals is ready for you every day. We are happy to introduce them to you in the 'Builders in Beeld' section. This time: Bart Silven, Investment Analyst.

How long have you been working for Build Finance?

“I have been working at Build Finance since September 2021. In the summer of that year I was looking for a suitable internship to complete my Master Business Analytics, Specialization Optimization of Business Processes, at the VU in Amsterdam. With my graduation internship I wanted to optimize my love for the vocational organizations in a data. combine.

When I presented my question to one of the owners of Build Finance, enthusiastic response was immediately. Build Finance had just been established a few months earlier. As a result, there was a great need for optimizing business processes through data analytics. I then built machine learning models, with which Build Finance can predict payment arrears in the Dutch Buy-to-Let segment.

My graduation assignment was rewarded with an 8.5 and a full -time job. It soon became clear that Build Finance can grow so much further in the field of data-driven decision-making. I thought it would be very interesting to contribute to that. "

What do you like about your work?

“As an Investment Analyst, I am responsible for automating business processes, analyzing data at portfolio and loan level and drawing up investor reports. I also maintain contact with investors (read: funders) van Build. What I like about my work is always possible to make business processes by means of the data, but for the data of the data, but for the data, but for the data of the data, but for the data of the data, but for the data of the data of the data of the data, but for the data from the data of the data, but for the data from the data of the data of the data, but for the data from the data of the data of the data, but for the data from the data of the data, but for the data from the data of the data, but for the whole team of the data, but for the data from the data of the data of the data of the data of the data, but for the data from the data of the data of the data of the data, but for the data from the data of the data of the data, but for the whole team of the Data. A handy programming or analytics tool can save you a lot of time in many processes. ”

What characteristics come in handy here?

“I think gaining and maintaining domain knowledge is the most important. With the right domain knowledge you understand all the data with regard to buy-to-off mortgages much better, so you are better able to solve company-specific issues quickly. In addition, I also think it is very important to show initiative and I think I have a solution for a certain problem in the deep end in the deep end Solution can or cannot work. ”

What are you doing right now?

"I am currently making a forecast tool for our commercial pipeline with the help of Python and Excel. Based on our historical data and conversions, I try to make predictions about the quantity and size (read: amounts) of the loan applications that come in approximately a month."

What do you get energy from or are you proud of?

"I like it if I can automate data-related processes in such a way that the entire team benefits immediately. It gives me satisfaction when I see that my colleagues can switch faster through automation and save a lot of time on previously time-consuming tasks. This not only provides more efficiency, but also gives more job satisfaction!"
